SOUTH MACON PUBLIC LIBRARY DISTRICT BOARD MEETING TUESDAY, February 10th, 2026

The meeting was called to order at 3:34 p.m. by Anna Jesse.  Trustees in attendance were Anna Jesse, Tami Long, Cathy Murray, Salli Pritts, Susan Strahle and Mindy Younker.   Assistant Lori Nixon was also in attendance.

Agenda, Minutes and Financial Report:   Agenda, minutes and financial report were read and approved.

New and ongoing:

Vicki received notice that the library did not receive the round 3 Illinois Humanities Grant.

Presentation and approval of the 2025 audit.  A. Jesse, Y; T. Long, Y; C. Murray, Y; S. Pritts, Y; S. Strahle, Y; M. Younker, Y.  D. Herbert was absent.  Audit approved.

Road Scholar speakers will present at the Macon Community Center.  Presentations are open to the public and will start at 6pm on the given dates.

1.  Dr. Norm Moline - The National Park Service in Illinois: Places to Experience Our Cultural History.  April 29, 2026.

2. Daniel Overturf - Illinois Trails and Traces: Portraits and Stories Along the State’s Historic Routes.  September 2, 2026.

3. Julia Rendleman - Illinois’ Growing News Deserts and Why We Should Care.  October 6th, 2026

Country Financial Insurance had an inspection of the library and the following issues were found to be corrected or updated.

1. Replace surge protector - completed Feb. 5, 2026.

2. Replace Fire Safety lights - completed Feb. 5, 2026.

The above work was completed by Apex Electrical Solutions, Inc. for $2,529

3. Fire System Inspection is yet to be completed. 

There are many ongoing and upcoming programs including a Dragon Egg Hunt, Blind Date with a Book, Frankenstuffs, Ceramics with Next of Kiln, book club, Chair Exercises and Lego Club.

Meeting adjourned at 3:55 pm with a motion by Salli Pritts and a second by Mindy Younker.
