SOUTH MACON PUBLIC LIBRARY DISTRICT BOARD MEETING TUESDAY JUNE 9, 2026

The meeting was called to order at 3:34 p.m. by Debbie Herbert.  Trustees in attendance were Debbie Herbert, Tami Long, Anna Jesse, Salli Pritts, Susan Strahle and Mindy Younker.   Vicki Carr and Lori Nixon were also in attendance.

Agenda, Minutes and Financial Report:   Agenda, minutes and financial report were read and approved.

New and ongoing:

The library raised $552 from BBQ and hotdog sales during town garage sales.

The Library’s portion from Macon Summer Fun Day was $261.  These funds will go toward programming

The library declines to host Road Scholar presentations in the future due to low attendance and the time commitment.  It is an honor to be asked.   The two remaining presentations will take place at the library.

1. Daniel Overturf - Illinois Trails and Traces: Portraits and Stories Along the State’s Historic Routes.  September 2, 2026.

2. Julia Rendleman - Illinois’ Growing News Deserts and Why We Should Care.  October 6th, 2026

T. Long motioned and M. Younker 2nd a call to vote for approval of Building and Maintenance Fund: 0.02% property tax levy

Roll Call vote: D. Herbert, Y; T. Long, Y; A. Jesse, Y; S. Pritts, Y; S. Strahle, Y; M. Younker, Y.   Motion approved.

Personnel Committee set to meet June 18, 2026.  D. Herbert, T. Long, S. Strahle and M. Younker. 

Secretary Book Audit will take place after the July meeting.  D. Herbert, T. Long and S. Strahle

Vicki continues to work on the Library’s Strategic Plan.  

Summer Reading Program is set and ready to go.  Program Activities will take place on Wednesdays at noon.  June 10 - July 22, 2026

Meeting adjourned at 4:40 pm with a motion by Anna Jesse and a second by Mindy Younker.
